Zhongdian Food

Mmm...yak butter tea. The first three cups are delicious. Every sip afterward for the rest of your life is torture.

Highway stands selling yak products on the mountain road to Zhongdian. One of our fellow night bus passengers stopped at every stand for an hour until he found the right cut and price for his morning meat. The yak hair brushes got most of my attention.

Tea, berries, yak cheese, and dipping sugar decorate the floor beneath the stove in the Tibetan home we stayed at in Zhongdian. One morning we woke at dawn to hear the monks chant at the nearby monastery. The next morning we were woken a few minutes after dawn by a neighbor chanting himself as he started his morning fire.

Zhongdian Fun

The rare shot at this elevation looking up rather than down to see the clouds.
